Neesa Suncheuri Sunar, LMSW

I am trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered in offering therapy to individuals and couples of all orientations. I specialize in creative professionals (ie visual artists, musicians, theater professionals, dancers, writers, & traditional folk artists), and I understand the importance of retaining the creative mind while also remaining grounded in navigating life's challenges and demands. I myself am a classical musician (violin/viola) who plays at a high level, thus I understand the artist mentality personally.

I bring expertise in offering culturally-competent care in serving clients of BIPOC and Global Majority heritage; I myself am mixed-race of Nepali and European descent. I offer affirming care to queer folx, and support individuals and couples who are exploring polyamory.

In session, I hold space for processing heavy experiences and trauma, while actively integrating therapeutic approaches that match the client. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Eastern-based mindfulness and breathing exercises, and journal prompts to empower the self.
