My Approach to Therapy:

My therapeutic approach is rooted in relational-cultural theory and liberation psychology (with DBT and self-compassion techniques sprinkled in). I believe that healing takes place in the context relationship, moving away from isolation towards community and connection. I view therapy as an opportunity to explore and work through the obstacles in one’s life that keeps them from connecting with themselves and others. These obstacles may include trauma, racial trauma, a need to set healthy boundaries, an inability to imagine a future for oneself, family discord, negative self-image, ineffective distress tolerance and management skills, etc. I also have a passion for working with college students and young adults who are interested in exploring their identities and their place in the world.
