My Approach to Therapy:

Hi there!

Do you describe yourself as awkward?
Do you feel like you don't fit in?
Do you feel misunderstood, unheard, and disrespected?
Do you find it hard to make friends?
Are you a victim of bullying and emotional abuse?
Does your current employer, friends, or family members take advantage of you?
Do you like to please others?
Do you take care of everyone else and neglect yourself?
Do you find it hard to set boundaries and practice self-care?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I can help!

I am pleased to offer psychotherapy for adults and seniors who need help with anger, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma. I also offer certified life coaching for clients who do not have a mental health issue but require general support to get beyond life’s challenges.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 23 years of experience working as a licensed therapist, 8 additional years as a bachelor's and master's-level clinician, and most recently as a Certified Life Coach.

My counseling style is warm, friendly, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach to counseling combines

Client-Centered- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CC-CBT)

Client-centered therapy is a non-directive form of talk therapy. In this approach, you act as an equal partner in the therapy process. Cognitive-behavioral therapy combines cognitive therapy and behavior therapy to correct faulty or maladaptive patterns of thinking, emotional response, or behavior.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD that have developed after experiencing a variety of traumatic events, including child abuse, combat, rape, and natural disasters.

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)

EFIT strives not only for symptom reduction but also for personality growth and greater connection with oneself and others. This kind of therapy enables clients to be more open and engaged with their inner experience and with other people. EFIT is most often used for depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic issues.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices that include present-moment awareness, meditation, and breathing exercises.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that emphasizes acceptance to deal with negative thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or circumstances. It also encourages increased commitment to healthy, constructive activities that uphold your values or goals.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

Certified Life Coach (CLC)

A certified life coach (CLC) is a type of wellness professional who helps people make progress in their lives to attain greater fulfillment. Life coaches can help you clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and then come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle.

I will tailor our discussion and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

My goal and hope for collaborating with you are twofold. In the short term, I would like to help you get relief and ease your concerns so you can live a full life again. In the longer term, I hope that we can find the underlying cause of the feelings, concerns, and dilemmas that you have experienced. I understand that this process may be difficult for you. But you have taken the first step by reaching out for help. Together, we will keep taking one step at a time, at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!
