About the Event
Care in the Chair™ is a city-rooted pilot initiative reimagining the beauty chair as a safe, trusted entry point for mental-health support and domestic violence awareness. By teaming up with InnoPsych (a mental-health network focused on communities of color) and the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement, BeautyLynk® is bringing trauma-informed conversations, resources, and care connections directly into salons, barbershops, and beauty spaces where trust already lives.
The program recognizes that many survivors first confide in their stylist, barber, or makeup artist. Care in the Chair™ equips these professionals to listen with compassion and guide clients toward confidential help—without turning beauty spaces into clinics.
Beauty spaces as overlooked mental-health access points and we feel that this initiative allows local government and mental-health innovators are working together.
