Karen Cone-Uemura, PhD

Dr. Karen Cone-Uemura is the founder of Wellness From Within Psychological Services, offering psychotherapy in English and Spanish, consultation, supervision and training in the areas of inclusion, equity, diversity and group therapy. She holds expertise in grief, trauma (particularly oppression-based trauma), chronic health (physical, cognitive & psychological) conditions, and identity development. She’s trained in EMDR & hypnotherapy. Karen works holistically, recognizing the importance of contextual factors on the wellbeing of an individual, group, community, society and the world.

Karen approaches her work and life from the same perspective: personal empowerment built upon an appreciation of individual and collective diversity while navigating forces imposed by imperfect systems. While she is fierce in her efforts towards equity and inclusivity, particularly in the areas of race, disability, class, sexuality, and gender, she strives to be gentle in her connections with others. As a therapist, Karen is supportive yet direct.
