My Approach to Therapy:

My journey to becoming a therapist as a BIPOC individual has been shaped by my deep awareness of the stigma and barriers clients encounter when seeking counseling. Your culture and family upbringing influence whether you seek mental help in the first place, the type of help you seek, the coping skills and social supports you have, and the stigma you have of mental health. Culture also influences the meaning that you give to your condition. Social identities such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability influence your experiences and impact your emotional state.
