My Approach to Therapy:

My approach to therapy is grounded in Liberation Psychology and is guided by holistic womanist and social justice frameworks. I actively work toward decolonizing myself, and mental health frameworks in the various roles I occupy. I use a trauma-informed lens to address the underlying impact of personal and inter-generational trauma and historical/race-based trauma. I weave energy work, indigenous ancestral wisdom and somatic interventions to complement talk therapy and engage the whole person in their healing process. I see the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for change that allows me to be a truth teller in an affirming and compassionate way which in turn facilitates healing, acceptance and change for clients.
I specialize and wholeheartedly enjoy working with BIPOC 1st gen graduate students and BIPOC professionals who work in institutions of higher education and individuals in the health and helping professions (e.g., mental health providers, medical providers and community leaders/activists).
