My approach is Eclectic/integrative, i.e., of many theories of therapy (psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, family therapy and group therapy, hypnosis, EMDR, etc.), with focus on mental health of individuals & families. Depending on client needs, I find it beneficial (to the client) to customize the approach to the client's needs, with diverse cultural backgrounds in mind. With training in Human Development, I am also attentive to developmental stages and needs of children, teenagers, young, middle-age and older adults, with the goal of mentally-healthy individual adjustment and family-function. My specialties are: minors' mental health issues, parenting issues, multicultural populations, identity in teenagers and young adults, and, premarital and couples/marital counseling to people of many different cultures. I am able to communicate in several languages from India, namely, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Marwadi /Rajasthani, Malvi and Marathi. I have been licensed and practicing in the Twin Cities area as of 1988. Born and raised in India, I came to the US in 1965, and got my PhD from Iowa State University. I have also worked in Kingston, Jamaica, Calgary, Canada, and Melbourne, Florida.
