My Approach to Therapy:
I love working with folks think through questions of identity, belonging, and connection. I have particular depth working with BIPOC clients, often on the ground where closeness, selfhood, and culture meet, including clients who've built their lives around being dependable for everyone else and are now asking what that's cost them.
Grounded in relational and psychodynamic therapy, with ACT and DBT tools as needed, my work usually starts by building tolerance for difficult emotion, then moves toward the inherited patterns underneath it. With couples, conflict is treated less as a problem and more as a signal of what each partner needs.
I previously worked in the corporate world before training as a therapist, and currently co-teach Asian American Mental Health at the University of Chicago. I'm conversational in Mandarin and Korean and can incorporate them into sessions as helpful.
I offer virtual and in-person sessions in Andersonville, Ravenswood, Lakeview, or Hyde Park depending on the day.
