My Approach to Therapy:

I am a Clinical/Health Psychologist based at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I use empirically-supported treatments to help clients make lasting changes using the shortest number of sessions. I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), but utilize multiple other approaches (e.g., DBT & ACT) to help clients meet their goals. CBT helps to address cognitive and behavioral drivers of the problems clients experience, but can sometimes be invalidating as its premise is that problems are caused because of the way YOU are thinking. I incorporate DBT, which accounts for invalidating environments and other causes of current complaints rather than just the client themselves. As such, most clients find my style to be appropriately challenging, yet very affirming and supportive.

My personal philosophy is that many of us are navigating a world that was not built for us. This could be due to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, mood state, occupation, parenthood status, etc. or any intersections therein. I realized this with my own personal identity as a gay Black male. Therefore, I provide an affirming environment helping people work towards their therapy goals.
